The Portal – Manigala is the dream house of Kavindu Amarasinghe from his childhood, with great mental support and backing up from beloved wife Rashmi Perera we managed to build this Lodge.

The name of our Lodge will resemble as a gateway from busy hectic unclean city life to the clean and calm off grid stay. Our logo resembles the Casita and mountain ranges.

We are here to provide you with the best unforgettable memories by catering to the most wonderful customer service and stay. This will enhance your living with us and keep you happy and relaxed.

To Generate the power, we are using Windmill and Solar Power. Stand by power is generated by a power Generator. And water supply through the natural spring water.

About Manigala: Manigala, also known as ‘Ravana-thenna,’ holds historical significance, believed to be the landing site of King Ravana’s flight some 7500 years ago. This mountain has been a witness to the passage of time, and its shadow was once used by villagers to determine the time of day.

How to Reach Manigala: Embark on a scenic journey from Matale, traveling through the picturesque Matale – Illukkumbura – Pallegama – Giradurukotte Road, passing through Rattota and Pitawala Pathana until you arrive at Manigala. Alternatively, hikers can commence their adventure from the charming Atanwala village.

From Colombo, navigate through McCallum road, the Colombo-Katunayake expressway, Outer Circular, Colombo-Kandy road, Link Road, Dambulla – Bakamuna Road, Naula-Elahera Road, and Matale – Illukkumbura- Giradurukotte Road.

Best Time to Visit and Weather Conditions: The sunny and hot surroundings make early morning hours the ideal time to begin your hike. As the summit can get warm by noon, starting early ensures a more comfortable and enjoyable experience.

Hike to Manigala: Manigala beckons adventure enthusiasts with its popular hiking trails, camping spots, and breathtaking photography opportunities. Traverse through forests, terrains, and cultivation lands, witnessing the traditional ‘Helmalu’ crop cultivation. The hike, suitable for the average hiker, passes through scenic villages like Atanwala, Pitawala Pathana, Thelgamu Valley, Riverston, and showcases picturesque waterfalls, including the captivating Wedda Peni Ella and Rathkinda Ella.

  • Carry 2 liters of water per person, as there is no water source after Wadda Pani Ella.
  • Obtain permission and tickets from the Illukkumbura Forest Department office near Thelgamuwa Oya.
  • Wear sturdy shoes for a comfortable trek.
